We are hiring for two positions; a social content manager/virtual assistant as well as a show producer/manager. The job descriptions are below. Please send your resume to hello@priyasam.com along with the answers to the questions noted in the job descriptions by August 8th.

Position: Social content manager/Virtual assistant (Independent Contractor)

 

Location: GTA 

Contract Duration: 6 -12 months with potential of being extended 

Hours per month: 10-12 hours to begin

Remuneration: $20.00/hour CDN paid monthly 

About Turning Point with Priya Sam 

Turning Point with Priya Sam is a podcast and a YouTube show hosted by former national news anchor and morning show host Priya Sam. The turning point team is focused on telling diverse stories and tackling tough topics in a way that is accessible and progressive. 

Tasks for the role include: 

  • Providing input and ideas for social media content

  • Posting content on an agreed upon schedule (Channels include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn)

  • Creating assets for social media such as quote boards and captioned videos (Training will be provided and captions will be written by another member of the team)

  • Working with other team members on scheduling interviews

  • Attending one shoot in person per month to take photos/videos for social media content

  • Managing and triaging inbox messages

  • Sending calendar invites and confirmation emails to guests

  • Assisting with additional tasks, including but not limited to ordering equipment and creating prep lists for events

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications: 

  • Highly organized

  • Interest in social media trends, experience working on social content is an asset

  • Interest in current events and podcasting

  • Desire to be part of a growing team to gain media experience

  • Experience doing light video and audio editing is an asset

  • Fresh ideas and a growth mindset

  • Canva

  • Clipchamp/audacity

Position: Producer/Manager for Turning Point with Priya Sam (Independent Contractor)

Hours per month: 10-15 hours to begin (The hope is for this position to grow as the show grows)

Remuneration: $30.00/hour CDN paid monthly plus commission on sponsorships/engagements 

About Turning Point with Priya Sam 

Turning Point with Priya Sam is a podcast and a YouTube show hosted by former national news anchor and morning show host Priya Sam. The turning point team is focused on telling diverse stories and tackling tough topics in a way that is accessible and progressive. 

Tasks for the role include: 

  • Sourcing and booking guests

  • Researching and helping prepare interview questions and research on guests

  • Attending one or two tapings per month and ensuring they run smoothly ie: prepping guests, ensuring they are comfortable and ready, helping to manage the crew and things like background noise, and timing of interviews 

  • Sourcing sponsorships and advertisers for the show and speaking engagements for Priya (You will receive commission for these bookings on top of the regular hourly wage)

  • Providing ideas and input for social media content

  • Weekly calls with Priya for brainstorming and organizing for the week ahead

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications: 

  • Highly organized

  • Interest in news and current events

  • Newsroom/journalism experience or education

  • Passion for storytelling, social justice, diversity and inclusion

  • Interest in podcasts and online media 

  • Not afraid to take risks and try new ideas, creativity and boldness are needed for this role

  • Background or experience in marketing/branding would be an asset

  • Experience with social media ads particularly on Facebook and Instagram would be an asset

  • Experience with branded partnerships/securing sponsors would be an asset

  • Desire to be part of a growing team 

  • Experience doing light video and audio editing would be an asset

  • Fresh ideas and a growth mindset
